Ella K. Vyhnalek, 101, of Rochelle, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at the Rochelle Hospital one week before her 102nd birthday. She was born on September 29, 1907 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Emma (Satek) Pekar. Ella married Anton Fred Vyhnalek on Nov. 21, 1931 in Chicago. Tony and Ella were charter members of Shell Knob United Methodist Church in Missouri in 1971 and served faithfully in that community during early retirement years. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony in 1976, sisters: Louise Kelly and Emily Hesler and an infant brother.
Her family was the delight of her life who will always be grateful for her gifts of wisdom, affirmation and steadfast love. Survivors include 2 daughters: Lynne (John) Robbins of Rochelle, and Ellyn (Rev. Thomas) Walker of Elgin, IL; sister: Mildred Putness of Durand, IL; 4 grandchildren: Daryl Jean Dayton, Stephen Walker, Donna Lyn Hansen, and Jane Walker;
5 great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Jenna Hansen, Ian Dayton, Jonah and Isabella Walker.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brett Todd and Rev. Thomas Walker officiating. Visitation at Unger-Horner Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM Friday, Sept. 25th. Cremation rites will follow the services and burial will be in Lawnridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to
