ELSIE EMMA SAWICKI, age 86, of Rochelle, died on Sunday, September 23, 2007 in Rochelle. She was born on April 10, 1921 in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of Ernest and Theresa Schaetz Schettle. Elsie married Walter E. Sawicki on July 25, 1942 in Oshkosh, WI. They moved to Rochelle in 1953. She co-owned Sawicki Chevrolet Cadillac in Rochelle with her husband. Elsie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Elsie's loves were spending time with her family, handicrafts such as sewing, knitting and designing and decorating eggs. Her husband preceded her in death on June 10, 1990. She was also preceded by her parents, her daughter: Sandy Kaminski, and 3 brothers: Joseph E., William and Alfred Schettle.

Survived by her daughter: Sally (Steve Strang) Sawicki of Rochelle;
son: Dan (Sue) Sawicki of Rochelle; 2 grandchildren: Carol Kaminski of Austin, TX and Christopher Kaminski of London, U.K.

Funeral mass will be held at 10AM on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. David A. Peck officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 - 7 PM at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 PM. Burial in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
