Emma Ruth George Kissack, 83, of Rochelle, IL passed away peacefully April 8, 2014 at Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, IL surrounded by her family. She was born August 24, 1930 in Cypress, IL, the daughter of Fred E. and Pearl Laughlin George. Her parents, sister Mary Jo Riddle, brother Bill George, and son Jeff Kissack preceded her death.
Emma's love for the Lord guided her servant's heart as she put others first. She served for years at St. Patrick's Catholic Church as President of the Women's Club, as a Eucharist Minister and volunteered as a wedding planner. She was trained in Stephen Ministries at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock AR to provide one to one Christian care to people going through tough times. She served as Co-president of Rochelle Christian Food Pantry and also served as a volunteer and on the Board of Directors at HOPE of Ogle County.
Emma loved playing cards and games of any kind. Bridge, 500, and euchre were some of her favorites. She also enjoyed Wii golf and Wii bowling, belonging to the Lincoln Manor Maverick's championship team.
Emma is survived by her daughter Jan (Jim) Hart of Rochelle, daughter-in-law Wendy Kissack of Rochelle, sons Jay (Karen) Kissack of Algonquin, IL, and Joe (Carmen) Kissack of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren include Jorie (Brian) Jackson, Jodie (Junior) Exantus, Jill Hart, Kyle (Jennifer) Kissack, Kelly (Mitch) Buh, Logan Kissack, Dylan Kissack, Courtney Kissack, and Hannah Kissack. Great grandchildren are Ben and Emma Jackson, James and Jadon Hart Exantus, Bryn, Reese, Tess, and Grange Kissack, Devlen, Treyton, Cheyenne and Kendra Buh.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14 from 3pm to 7 pm at Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Crossroads Community Church 3301 Illinois 251 N Rochelle, IL. Immediately following, burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle. In lieu of flowers memorials made to Rochelle Christian Food Pantry, HOPE of Ogle County, Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL or Pegasus Special Riders, Oregon, IL.
