EVELYN B. DUMMER, age 95, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Bethany Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in DeKalb. She was born on April 23, 1914 in Lindenwood, IL, the daughter of Louis W. and Martha Eckert Pepper. Evelyn married Floyd W. Dummer on October 21, 1936 in Rockford, IL, he preceded her on March 15, 1992. She and Floyd lived in Rochelle their entire married life. She found her peace in the Lutheran Church. Evelyn was a great mother, a loving grandmother, and a wonderful great great grandmother. She will truly be missed by all. Evelyn was a hard worker all her life, she was active in the Rochelle Fireman Women's Auxiliary, and St. Paul's O-K Club. Her final 12 years were spent at the Bethany Health Care Center in DeKalb, due to a stroke. Her family at Bethany were very loving and caring, a special thank you to all of them, and also to the DeKalb Hospice, who have been there when we needed them. Evelyn is preceded by her parents, husband, Floyd of 56 years, four sisters, Alice Pepper, Edith Poliska, Dorothy Kelly, and Vera Vandenburg; one brother, Ernest Pepper; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Kenneth) Bodda of DeKalb, 3 grandchildren: Cindy Bodda of Rockford, Bonnie Stellatos of DeKalb, and Steve (Marcia) Bodda of Aurora, 3 great grandchildren Ami Stellatos of Lake Forrest, and Tyler and Ryan Bodda of Aurora.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1415 10th Ave., Rochelle, IL with Rev. Gregory Hoffman officiating.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Tuesday at the Church.
Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family.
