Everett Moreland, 76, passed away peacefully in his home after a 2 ½ year battle with multiple myeloma with his loving wife at his side Thursday, January 19, 2017. Everett was born September 4, 1940 to Bon and Effie (Hill) Moreland in Ramsey, Illinois. He married Mary Jo Bowers on September 10, 1960 at the Methodist Church in Tiskilwa, IL. He was owner and operator of M.F.C.H. Trucking in Rochelle for 30 years. He also owned and operated Moreland Excavating for over 50 years. Everett and Mary Jo enjoyed traveling the United States in their motor home and wintering in Arizona with many dear friends. One of the loves of his life was farming, which he was actively involved in through the last harvest. Over the years, Everett has enjoyed snowmobiling, flying his Piper Saratoga airplane, driving his one of a kind '57 Chevrolet golf cart and hunting with his nephews in Colorado. He faithfully attended the Rochelle United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Everett is preceded in death by four brothers: Donald, Bobbie, John and William; his sister, Geneva; and an infant brother.
Everett is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo; his brother, Rev. Claude (Eloise) Moreland of Aledo, IL; his sister, Gertie Spires of Princeton, IL; brother-in-law, John (Taeko) Bowers of Okinawa, Japan and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 26 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 4th Ave., Rochelle, with Pastor Rob Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorials may be made in Everett's memory to the Rochelle United Methodist Church.
