Fern E. Ackland, age 84, of Rochelle, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. She was born on March 16, 1922 in Lee County, IL, the daughter of August and Gertrude (Jacobs) Butler. Fern married Willard Becker on January 27, 1944 and he preceded her on June 7, 1963. She then married George Ackland on March 25, 1966 and he preceded her in 1983. She was also preceded in death her infant sister: Betty Butler.

Survivors include a son: Jim Becker of Rochelle; 2 daughters: Bev (Gary) Bunger of Ashton and Peggy Baker of Celebration, FL; 2 sisters: Alvina (Chuck) Schnorr of Dixon, IL, Orva (Bill)
Heibenthal of El Paso, IL and a sister-in-law: Neva Becker of Ashton, IL; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Hutchison officiating on Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10 to 11 prior to the funeral service on Friday. Burial will be at Ashton Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Unity Hospice or to Rochelle United Methodist Church.
