Fern Coats 73 of Rochelle, passed away Thursday May 29, 2008 at Rockford Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born July 9, 1934 in Mackintosh, S.D. the daughter of Harold and Myrtle "Honey" Helgeson McGill. She married Kenneth Olson July 4, 1998 in Rochelle.

Preceded by her father, Harold McGill, 2 brothers Thomas McGill and Robert Johnson, a daughter Donna Kinser Sidebottom and infant grandson Eric Sanderson.

She was a member of Rochelle Moose Lodge in Rochelle and she attained the College of Regents degree in the Women of The Moose. Fern was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She also taught her daughters the art of bargain shopping.

Survived by her husband Kenneth Olson, Mother Honey Johnson of Rochelle, 4 daughters Linda (Chic) Whitener of Rochelle, Diana (Norman) Wallace of Troy, Michigan, Robin Kinser of Rochelle and Renee (Neal) Sidebottom of Rochelle. 3 step-daughters Sandra Olson of Springhill, TN, Tammy (Perry) Cummings of Jackson, TN and Carla (Charles) Marr of Madison, TN. 2 brothers Eugene (Pamela) Osborne and Richard Johnson both of Rochelle. A son-in-law Ken Sidebottom of Plano, TX and a Special friend, Lori Rethwill. 12 Grandchildren and 4 Greatgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Monday June 2nd 6 P.M. at First Presbyterian in Rochelle with visitation from 4 to 6 at the church prior to service.
Family burial of cremains will be in Lawnridge Cemetery at a future date.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the family.
