Florence M. Pierce Greenfield, age 94, left this earth at St. Anthony's Hospital Wednesday, July 2, 2014, to join her husband of 47 years, James G. Pierce, for the rest of eternity. She was born to Edward and Effie (Smith) Daum on October 3, 1919 and lived in Steward, Illinois until her high school graduation. She married James on September 10, 1937 and lived on the family farm near Rochelle for several years. James preceded her in death on March 14, 1983. Upon marriage to Howard Greenfield she lived in Dixon, IL for a few years before returning to Rochelle to reside at San Gabriel Assisted Living Facility until her death. First and foremost, Florence was a dedicated farmer's wife, mother and homemaker. After raising her children, she worked for and then retired from Caron International.

Florence is preceded in death by two brothers: Maurice and Harold Daum; two sisters: Marie Bergquist and Dolores Hartman; brother-in-law, John Pierce, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rainwater; sons-in-law: Larry Anderson and Mark Gunnon, and husband Howard Greenfield

She is survived by three daughters: Mary (James) Baker of Sarasota, FL and their children, John, Joeline, Jeffrey and James; Carolyn Gunnon of Huntley, IL and her children, Gregory, Julianne and Nicole and Virginia Anderson of Manteno, IL and her children, Amy, Scott and Emily; 22 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and dear friend of over 60 years, Ruth Miller.

The visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 7 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.
The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 with Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road, Rochelle where she was the longest living member.
