Rochelle

Florence May Hay, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Manor Court in Rochelle, Illinois.  Flo was born on April 30, 1928 to Harold and Hattie (Nelson) Donovan in Fort Atkinson, WI.  On January 9, 1946, she married John "Jack" R. Hay in Maquoketa, IA.  She and Jack lived in both Rochelle, Pocatello, Longmont, CO and Moriarty, NM. Pocatello is where they enjoyed some of their favorite years that created many of the family's fondest memories.

Flo enjoyed crocheting for many years, making beautiful christening outfits for many of her
grandchildren and great grandchildren and hundreds of doilies which she shared with family and
friends through the years. During her younger years, she enjoyed bowling on leagues, taking
motorcycle trips with Jack and collecting dolls. Researching their family's genealogy, reading
biographies and watching old music videos gave her a lot of enjoyment in her later years.

In addition to her parents, Flo is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on November 22, 2021; children: infant son, John Edwin and son, Mike; brothers: Harold "Slim", infant brother, Eugene, La Verne, Pat, Mike and Jim Donovan; infant sister, Geraldine and sister, Margaret "Peggy" Eppes.

Flo is survived by her three children: Richard (Valerie) Hay of Longmont, CO, Rose (William) Foster of Stanley, NM and Joanne (William) Storey of Rochelle; her sister, Evelyn Welch of Wickenburg, AZ; 11 grandchildren: Sean (Joe Markovich) Hay, Jim (Cassie) Hay, Michael (Stephanie) Hay, Jonathan (Kim) Hay, Jason (Heather) Hay, Daniel Foster, Amanda (Charles) Peterson, Joanna (Steve) Moreno, Samantha (Paul) Reed, Thomas N. Thompson and Michael (Erica) Thompson; 25 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
