Francis "Bud" Heal, 83, passed away from pancreatic cancer in his home December 30, 2017 at Casa Del Sol RV Park in Donna, Texas.

Bud was born February 26, 1934, in Malta, Illinois, the son of Fred and Barbara (Schubert) Heal. He married Barbara Russell on February 23, 1957. Bud served in the U.S. Army from March 10, 1954 to February 25, 1956. He farmed in the Esmond area then worked in the sheet metal trade for over thirty years in Local 219. His main hobby was woodworking and he made many beautiful scroll saw pieces. He also enjoyed metal detecting and was happy finding pennies or whatever he picked up.

Bud is survived by his wife, Barbara; children: Edward (Carey Kidd) Heal of Creston and Marcia (Dan Westin) Peterson of Chicago; two grandchildren: Sean (Ashley) Peterson and Lauren (fiancé LeShun Daniels) Peterson; several fond nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Robert (Linda) Russell of Shabbona; and his four legged sidekick, Penny.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clifford and Melvin Heal; sisters: Eleanor Foster and Margery Betts; two nieces: Linda Foster and Vicki Betts; one nephew, Roger Heal; and son-in-law, Dan Peterson.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
