Francis "Butch" L. Halsne, 75, of Rochelle, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 in Freeport, IL. Butch was born April 13, 1942 in Rochelle, IL the son of Elmer and Marie (Schabacker) Halsne. He married Janet Morris Oct 2, 1965 in Ashton, IL. Butch proudly served in the United States Army from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Rochelle VFW 3878, where he was a commander for 3 years. For over 10 years he was a volunteer driver/coordinator for veterans. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ashton American Legion and LCCA Train Club.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Marie; one Brother: Robert Halsne.
Butch is survived by his wife: Janet of Rochelle; two daughters: Pam Lambert and Sandy Halsne (Keith Smith) both of Rochelle; one brother: William (Yusoon) Halsne of Salem, OR; one sister Georgia (Richard) Crosby of Rockford, IL and one sister-in-law: Cathy Halsne of Colgate, WI; four grandchildren: Samatha (Kori) Kirkpatrick, Danny and Sarah Woodall and Tyler Smith.
Visitation will be held Wed. Nov. 8th from 4-8 PM at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held Thur. Nov. 9th 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle with Pastor Greg Hoffmann Officiating.
Burial at Lawnridge cemetery with full military honors provided by the US Army and the Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard. Memorial is still to be established. Visit
