Davis Junction

Franklin "Boots" Earl Showers, 75, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois.  Boots was born on February 4, 1948 in Belvidere, IL.  On July 6, 1973, he married Carolyn Rose Allen in Freeport, IL.

Boots grew up in Leaf River, IL and was a country farm boy through and through.  He loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting, target shooting, gun collecting and photography were his favorite things to do.  He was a member of the Rochelle Conservation Club.  He worked for Chrystler in the paint shop where he was known as the "metal man", retiring after 34 years of service.  Concurrently, he also farmed 120 acres of corn and soybeans and raised pigs.

Boots was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta (Thomas) Hall, infant daughter, Joell and six siblings: Tom, Chuck, Jeanie, Linda, Shari and Mary.

Boots is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Showers of Davis Junction, IL; three children:  Stephanie (Bernard) Adams of Rochelle, IL, Spencer Showers of TN and Scott (Shandra) Showers of DeKalb, IL; two sisters: Dorothy Bowers of Byron, IL and Betsy Hall of Oregon, IL and two step grandchildren: Kayleena and Gabriella.
