Gailen R. Hoel, 63, passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, February 18, 2016. Gailen was born January 17, 1953 to Ardon D. and Florence F. (Geise) Hoel in Stoughton, Wisconsin. He married Mona Shirlene Ellis on May 31, 1975 in Rockford. Fishing, skeet shooting, carpentry and watching the Bears were a few a his favorites. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Shelman, and brother, Matthew Hoel.
Gailen is survived by his wife, Mona; step son, Randy Baumgarner of Rockford; two brothers: Joe (Beth) Hoel of Milton Freewater, OR and Eric (Paula) Shelman of Rockford; his sister, Cindy (Scott) Franzen of Rockford; and sister-in-law, Beth Hoel of Rochelle.
The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 23 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. A memorial has been established.
