Galen Dean Ankney, 58, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at OSF St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. Galen was born on February 2, 1964 to Boyd G. and Marilyn L. (Janvick) Ankney in Rochelle, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Fletcher.

Galen is survived by four children: Rhiannon (Jody) Moore of Chandler, AZ, Rachel (Paul) Carroll of Machesney Park, IL Felicia (Chris) Castro of Kings, IL and Arthur Ankney of Winnebago, IL; three brothers: Fred Fletcher, Alan Ankney and Dusty Ankney; sister, Virginia Terviel and seven grandchildren: Kayla Ankney, Cameron, Caleb and Cody Carroll, Augie and Mika Castro and Braelyn Ankney.

Galen was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and riding dirt bikes. He also enjoyed painting and flying remote controlled airplanes. Galen applied his talent working on small engines and welding.

Galen was loved and will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren. He will alway be remembered for his joking spirit.
