Jay Garland Stewart Sr., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at his home in Rochelle.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1939 in Greenville, TN the son of Dan and Berdie (Ball) Stewart. Garland moved to Rochelle and was employed with Swift and Co. until its closer. For the last 20+ years Garland has been laying carpet in the Rochelle area. Some of the many activities he enjoyed were entertaining family and friends, fishing at Lake Shabbona, going to the gambling boat and swinging on his front porch swing. Garland also enjoyed helping Jay pick up cars, especially when breakfast at Cracker Barrel was involved. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Chet, James and Robert Cecil Stewart; and sisters: Mary King and Chris Schuler.
Survivors include son: Jay (Krista) Stewart Jr. of Rochelle; grandson: Austin Stewart of Rochelle; Sister: Betty Jo Ballard of Greenville, TN.
Memorial Services at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, IL, on Thursday, Feb. 16th at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dr. James Tilley. Cremation rites were arranged by Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Memorials to be established.
