Geraldine E. Horn, 70 of Rochelle, passed away on Wed. Aug. 19, 2009 at Willow Crest in
Sandwich, IL. She was born on Jan. 27, 1939 in Rockford, IL, to Joseph S. And Rose (Bellone) Matranga. She married Eugene H. Horn on Jan. 26, 1963 in Rockford and he preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1997. She was also preceded by her dad: Joseph Matranga, brother: Gordon John Matranga, and a nephew: Dwight Gayle.
Geraldine was a volunteer probation officer, foster mother, wrote the advise and consent column in the Rochelle News Leader, and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Creston.

Survivors include her mother: Rose Matranga of Rockford; 3 daughters: Charlene Anne (James)
Bussell of Rochelle, Francene Mary (Scott) Roinas of Rochelle, and Amy Elizabeth Horn of
West Plains, MO; foster daughter: Wendy (Jump) Rutherford of Loves Park; sister: Sandra Ann (Marvin) Smith of Rockford; sister-in-law: Karen (Chuck) Witzel of Janesville, WI; 9 grandchildren: Jessica (Chris) Dewey, Shane Roinas, Joey Bussell, William Bussell, KateLynn (Kevin) Taber, Margo Bussell, Jason Roinas, Corey (Kayla) Brasfield and Keven Roinas; and 3 great grandchildren: Jonathon, Matthew and Nathaniel Dewey.
Two nieces, a nephew, and many cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Rochelle with the Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, Aug. 21st at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, and also from 10AM to 11AM prior to funeral on Saturday at the Church.
Cremation rites will follow services with entombment of cremated remains at Lawnridge Mausoleum. A memorial has been established for the family.
