Rochelle

Geraldine Wheeler, 97, passed away peacefully at the Rochelle Rehab and Healthcare Center in Rochelle, Illinois. Geraldine was born on March 6, 1925 to John and Edna (Jayne) Maddrill in Thayer, Illinois. On November 10, 1957, she married Louis M. Wheeler in Rochelle.

Geraldine was very social. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. She was also very active at the Rochelle Senior Center where she was prom queen one year. She loved her flower garden and doing puzzle books.

Geraldine is survived by her son-in-law, Bruce Mammen of Rochelle; two granddaughters: Melissa Auld and Tiffany Mammen and three great grandchildren: Avery, Teagan and Elise.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, on December 21, 1992; two daughters: Carol Sue Huffstatler on October 19, 1988 and Marjorie Ann Mammen on February 24, 1991; two brothers and two sisters.

The visitation will be held 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. The burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
