Gilbert S. Hays, age 75 of Oregon, IL, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at KSB Hospital in Dixon. He was born on Dec. 26, 1931 in Hopewell, VA, the son of Henry and Mary C.
(Spence) Hays. Gilbert graduated from Virginia Tech University and was a manufacturing engineer, retiring in 1997 from E.D. Etnyre. He was a U. S. Army veteran. He enjoyed theater, dancing, movies, and fixing up things, he always had his pliers and tape measurer in his pocket. His brother Henry preceded him in death. Survivors include 2 daughters: Alma Winkler of Massillon, OH and Gloria Miller of Columbus, OH, 2 grandchildren: Sara and Amber Winkler;
his companion Doris Martin of Oregon and her children: Randy (Lisa) Martin of Rochelle, IL, Cindy (Jack) Calvert of Rockford, Nancy (Tony) Abin of Germany; 4 sisters: Mary Doug
Krout of Hopewell, VA, Alice McGuire of Newport News, VA, Lois (Jerry) O'Brien of Palm Beach, FL, and Jessie Snowden of Orlando, FL. His special pets Muffy and Puppy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 17, 2007 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St. Rochelle, with Pastor Judy Williams officiating.
There will be a visitation from 10 - 11:00 AM on Saturday prior to the service.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Cremation rites were arranged by Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
