Gilbert "Gil" C. Pierce, 70, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home in Rochelle. Gil was born December 12, 1943 in Aurora, Illinois to George and Marie (Brachle) Pierce. He worked for Swift, Rochelle Foods and then later for Cushing Transportation. Gil was a veteran, serving our country with the United States Army. He was an avid Cubs and Bear fan, loved golfing and adored his four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Shirley Sheridan, Georgeann Stone and Margaret Miller.

Gil is survived by his fiancé, Christy Belling, two daughters: Angela Steinke of Orange Park, FL and Lisa (Kyle) Johnson of Rochelle; four grandchildren: Nicole and Alexis Steinke and Allyson and Sam Johnson; two sisters: Julie (Larry) Wing of Creston and Charlotte (Robert) Bresson of Compton and two loving caregivers: Morgan Belling and Brandy Belling.

The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle with Father Richard Kramer officiating. The visitation will be on Friday just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:15 A.M.at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Burial is at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial has been established.
