Gladys E. Blake, 88, of Rochelle, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Manor Court of Rochelle. She was born March 26, 1935, in Greenville, KY, the daughter of James and Lilly Vincent. She married Clifton Blake on August 18, 1951 in Greenville, KY. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1999.

Gladys was the definition of a caretaker. She cared for her children, grandchildren, friends, and even people she barely knew. She treated everyone like family. She was very selfless and always willing to lend a hand. Gladys enjoyed being outdoors watching the birds and admiring the flowers. She loved animals, especially the many she had throughout her life.

Gladys is survived by three children, Stella King of Norwood, MO, Judy Thomas of Rochelle, and Debra (Roger) Feldman of Rochelle; four grandchildren, Kimberly King, Raquel (James) Cumby, Jennifer (Josh) Asbury, and Cody Starr; and four great-grandchildren, Jennah Asbury, Trisha Ethridge, Brailynn Cumby, and Wesson Starr.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys is preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and a son-in-law, Michael King.

Visitation will be from 12 pm until 1 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle with Chaplain Rick Eldred officiating.
