Glen E. Taylor, 88, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 in Rochelle. Glen was born May 2, 1926 in Rochelle to Eli W. and Jesse L. (Rowe) Taylor. He married Audrey Fay Altenburg on December 2, 1949 in Rochelle. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Glen was a Rochelle fireman for over 40 years. He also worked as an electrician for Union IBEW 364. He enjoyed racing hotrods and midgets and summers at the cabin on Geneva Lake. Glen was known as "King of the 4th of July" having shot off the July 4th displays in Rochelle for many years. He was a faithful Chicago Bears fan and season ticket holder for over 40 years. He bought his season tickets right from owner, George Halas. Glen will be remembered as a good father.
Glen is survived by his wife, Audrey, two sons: William Earl (Nancy) Taylor of Fontana, WI and Andrew Ray (Carole) Taylor of Rochelle; two grandchildren: Amber Lee (Sara Danger) Taylor and Guy William Taylor.
There will be a visitation from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
