Glendolyn J. (Pat) Carson passed from this earthly life surrounded by her family and into the hands of God and her eternal home on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Pat was born March 17, 1932 in Rochelle to William and Frances (Patrick) Hubbard of Kings. To her parents and siblings, Barbara and Bill, she was known has Glenny, while at RTHS she became know as Pat.
She was a deeply devoted mother to her seven children. As her PT Cruiser's license plate proudly read, GMC 21, she was grandma C to 21 grandchildren as well as three step-grandchildren followed by 20 great grandchildren with two more babies due in April and August.
Pat was a seamstress, quilter, cross-stitcher and knitter. Her talents were found in the clothes she made for her children and grandchildren, the quilts on everyone's beds, the cross stitch pictures hanging in their homes as well as countless slippers, dish rags, Christmas bells, hats, mittens, and scarves she knitted.
In addition to her childrearing, Pat worked at Del Monte during the summer months, ironed clothes for her clients, knitted show pieces for Caron International showrooms and catalogs and worked for Caron in the shipping department where she earned a 25 year award. Upon retirement, Pat cooked meals in the kitchen of Rochelle Community Hospital. Pat proudly earned her GED in 1970. Pat attended the First Baptist Church of Rochelle and was a faithful follower of the Word of God.
Glendolyn is survived by Belinda (Don) Luxton of Rochelle, John (Bonnie) Carson of Ashton, Glenda (Roger) Beardin of Rochelle, Lucinda (Lorenzo) Gonzales of Natalia, Texas, Joel (Lisa) Carson of Rochelle, James (Michelle) Carson of Rochelle, and Rhonda (Charles) Vardman of Creston.
Grandchildren: Tod (Kathy)Luxton of Rochelle, Toby (Kellie) Luxton of Davis Junction, Thaddeus (Kristina) Luxton of Laurel, Maryland, Trent (Marissa) Luxton of Rochelle, Donielle (Joe) Anderson of Plano, IL, Emily (Bill) Smith of Dixon, Vanessa (Jake Wessels) of Sterling, Blake (Cassandra Barber) Carson of Sterling, Tracy (Carrie) Whipple of Indianapolis, Tawnya (Jerrod) Liezert of Rochelle, David (Gail Lopez Muzquiz) Gonzales and Matthew (Michelle Trenidad) Gonzales of Texas, Ryan Carson, Lucas Carson, Lane Carson, Rachel Carson of Rochelle, Charles (Meghan) Vardman of Houston, Texas, Taylor Vardman, Quinten Vardman, Frantz and Frantzcesca Vardman all of Creston. And her cat, Molly, at home.
Great grandchildren are Hannah Glendolyn, Grace, Rose, Levi, Abigail, Elijah, Alexis, Evan and Lilah Luxton, Laila, Landon, and Lyndee Anderson, Brielle Carson, Carter and Avery Smith, Aubry and Makenzie Liezert, Zoe Glendolyn and Mylie Gonzales and Ella Carson, baby Carson and baby Vardman.
Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Jean Abbott and Joan Waltz of Mesa, Arizona, Carol Hubbard of Kings; brother-in-law, Jerry Carson, of Parkton, North Carolina and many dear nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara (Hubbard) Sachs, brother, William Hubbard Jr, mother and father-in-law, John and Ruby Carson, and nephew, Boyd Hubbard.
The family would like to acknowledge the caring and helpfulness from the staff and residents of San Gabriel, to Hospice of Ogle County who brought comfort and help in our time of need, to those from her church family that worshiped with her, and to Sister Judy Williams for your encouragement and prayers. Thank you to all from the bottom of our hearts.
Celebration of life service will be at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Dan Sergeant of New Hope Fellowship Church officiating. Visitation will be just prior to the service from 4:00 to 5:45 P.M. at the funeral home. A private burial will be at a later date in the Lindenwood Cemetery resting beside her beloved parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to OSF Hospice.
