Glenn W. Esterday, 83, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in Rochelle. He was born October 31, 1929 to Arthur and Elsie (Fischer) Esterday in Van Orin, Illinois. Glenn married Patricia Lower on October 20, 1950 in Fort Worth, TX. He worked for Kemper Insurance as a regional director of operations. Glenn was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rochelle. Glenn enjoyed golfing, traveling, gardening, sharing stories and spending time at the lake. He just returned from a cruise exploring Alaska, fulfilling his life long dream. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Clifford and Kenneth.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Pat, two sons: Kenneth "Pete" (Carol) Esterday of Rochelle and Steve (Colleen) Esterday of Rochelle; two daughters: Sheryl Hockenbery of New Port Beach, CA and Mary (Ben) Rogers of Ashton, IL; 11 grandchildren: Dana Wilder, Adam Hockenbery, Jill Hockenbery, Eric and Aaron Esterday, Adrienne (Seth) Stafford, Natalie (Nate) Gordon, Corrine (Dan) Kroger, Benjamin Rogers, Ariana and Caleb Esterday; and 11 great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Rochelle Fire Department, Chaplain Judy Williams and Pastor Chris Heller.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Rochelle. Visitations will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, and also on Saturday at the church from 10 - 10:45 A.M. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle with military honors provided by the Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard . Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Serenity Hospice and Home.
