Rochelle

Gloria Ann Rand, 94, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at her home in Rochelle, Illinois with family by her side. Gloria was born on January 26, 1932, the daughter of Kenneth and Hazel (Crowley) Ohlinger in DeKalb, IL. On March 15, 1952, she married Howard Emmet Rand in Esmond, IL, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2021.

Gloria was very active over the years. She was the cook at the Eswood Elementary School for many years. In their younger years, she and Howard were avid campers, traveling all over the United States. Gloria enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, fruiting trees, quilting, sewing, and cooking. She was a voracious reader, reading over 200 books every year. Playing cards with family and friends was a staple and always a good time.

Gloria is survived by her four children: Craig (Georgi) Rand of Crystal Lake, IL, Vicki (John) Gibson of Vancouver, WA, Dale (Judi) Rand and Becky (Elvis) Leininger both of Rochelle; her brother, Jerry (Pat) Ohlinger of Pioneer, CA; sister, Jane Eychaner of Durand, IL; 12 grandchildren: Chad Rand, Amy Gibson, Matthew (Netanya) Rand, Carmen (Blake) Vogeler, Rachael (Alex) Garcia, Courtney (Jason) Svela, Austin Rand, Karl (Margo) Rand-Roseum, Adam (Amanda) Leininger, Erica Gibson, Diane (Andrew) Duke, and Tara Leininger; 13 great grandchildren: Jayce and Elliana Garcia, Lucy Duke, Ava, Alexis, Tucker, and Audrey Vogeler, Opal Rand-Roseum, Cayson, Rylan, Brayden and Kinley Svela, and Asher Leininger.

The visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 7, 2026 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 P.M., Friday with Pastor Dave Rogula officiating. Burial will be at Greenview Cemetery in Esmond, IL.
