Obituary

Grethe “Greta” Vrana, self proclaimed "Greta the Great," passed from this life into her next life on Friday, June 26th 2026, with her family at her side.

She married Stanley Vrana at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle. Stanley preceded her in death, only 36 hours prior. Greta met Stanley at Rochelle Burlington Northern depot. (Train station)

Greta was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, a proud Dane. She immigrated to United States at the age of 22. Greta worked at Caron Spinning, then Eaton Corp for several years.

Greta greatly enjoyed reading, knitting, meaningful conversation, along with her many plants and pet birds.

Greta and Stanley spent alot of time in Branson, MO dancing to Mickey Gilley. Polka was their favorite though. They loved Amtrak trips to Seattle, WA. and fishing in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Greta loved toting her grandchildren in her red wagon downtown to shop. For 49 years her life revolved around her grand children and great grandchildren.

Her colorful personality will be greatly missed.

Greta was preceded by her parents, Peter and Ena Jacobsen, her twin brother, Hans, sister, Anni and brother, Went.

Survived by her son, Tom Sr (Janet) Vrana and daughter, Susan Vrana.
