Gussie J. Hood, 81, passed away with her family by her side Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at home. Gussie was born on May 28, 1936 to Arthur Gussie and Missouri (Masterson) Starnes in Barnhill Township, Wayne County, Illinois. She married Raymond Hood in Rochelle. Gussie worked for General Electric for 20 years before retiring. She loved flowers and butterflies and had a special place in her heart for her grandson, Donnie.

In addition to her parents, Gussie is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; brother, Paul Starnes and four sisters: Florencie Starnes, Genevieve Messerole, Ruth Redenour and Lois Brooks.

Gussie is survived by her four children: Diana Akers, Barry Tilton, Susan Tilton all of Rochelle and Lori (Jon) Davis of Leaf River, IL; brother, Delmar Starnes of Texas; five grandchildren: Mike Tilton, Heather Tilton, Misty Davis, Corey Akers and Donnie Akers; and six great grandchildren: Ben, Nathan, Chloe, Issca, Alyssa, and Keegan.
