Harley McCammond, 74, of Monroe Center, IL passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL surrounded by his loving family after a 12 month battle with cancer. Harley was born in Rockford, IL on June 11, 1942 to Harry and Lois (Knott) McCammond. He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1960 and married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Lichty, on May 1, 1965 in Monroe Center. Harley retired from Sundstrand/United Technology after working in accounting for 31 years. After retirement, he worked at Northern Illinois University for 12 years in travel accounting. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970.
Harley enjoyed family gatherings and attending the grandchildren's events. He also liked antiquing, traveling in the U.S.A. and especially shopping with Sandy. Harley was currently serving as a Trustee of Monroe Township and a board member of the Monroe Center Utility Association. He was a charter member of the Davis Junction Fire Department and a former member of the Monroe Center Lions Club.
Harley is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandy; his two sons: Steve (Neysa) of Stillman Valley and Shawn (Sheila) of Byron; six grandchildren: Valerie, Nile, Angela, Seth, Hayden and Remy and one great granddaughter, Evelyn. Also survived by his sister, Trudy; brother, Jim; sister-in-law, Fern; brothers-in-law: Bob (Nota) Lichty and Roger (Becky) Lichty; sister-in-law, Carole Lichty and numerous nieces, nephews and other special people in his life.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Jerry; mother and father in-law, Donald and Dorothy Lichty and brother-in-law, Gary.

The visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 28 at Kishwaukee Presbyterian Church, 8195 Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley with Pastor Eric Tonjes officiating. Burial will follow the service at Monroe Center Cemetery with military rites provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.
