Obituary

Harold Cheeseman,94, of Ashton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. He was born on July 13, 1917 in Shannon, IL to Louis and Zella (Johnson) Cheeseman. Harold married Bertha Maye Ackland on Aug. 18, 1940 at the Scarboro Evangelical United Brethren Church in Scarboro, IL. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2003. He was also preceded by his parents; brother: Chester; son: William H. Cheeseman and granddaughter: Carol Ann Friday.

He was employed by Cheeseman Construction as a cement finisher and moved to Ashton
to farm in 1944. Harold was well known for pitching fast pitch in several area teams. He had
his pilots license and owned a Cessna 170 and enjoyed many hours of flying with his family and friends. Memberships include: Reynolds United Methodist Church, Lee County Pork Producers, Flying Farmers Association and he served on the Lee County Board for 25 years.

Survivors include: Daughter: Judith Ann (Carl) Friday of Ashton, IL and son: Robert (Linda) Cheeseman of Ashton; 8 grandsons; Jeffery (Lisa) Friday, Mark (Christine) Friday, Craig (Teresa) Friday, Scott (Erika) Cheeseman, Ryan (Traci) Cheeseman, Eric Cheeseman, John (Mandy) Cheeseman, and Alex Cheeseman; 17 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

Services will be at Reynolds United Methodist Church on Monday, April 30th, 2012 with
Rev. Alan Meyer officiating at 10:00 AM. Visitation at Reynolds United Methodist in Ashton, on Sunday, April 29th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Memorials to Reynolds United Methodist Church or the Lee County Fair Association. Burial at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
