Harold G. Sanders, 81, of Rochelle, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was born June 28, 1942, in Wabeno, WI, the son of James and Lela (Pickreign) Sanders.  He married Kathleen Rogers on January 20, 1962, in Capron, IL.

Harold worked as a forklift operator at Silgan Containers Corporation in Rochelle for 45 years. He was a skilled craftsman and woodworker who could build just about anything he put his mind to. He loved gardening and walking around Rochelle. He would often walk around town, planting flowers in the downtown or along the biking and walking paths. He was a devout Christian and member of the Harvest Baptist Church in Hillcrest. Harold will be remembered as one of the most loyal and humble men you could ever meet.

Harold is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Rochelle; three children, Gary Sanders of Rock Falls, Karen Sanders of Rochelle, and Jeremy (Debra) Sanders of DeKalb; nine grandchildren, April (Zach) Wade of Sterling, Nicole Sanders of Columbus, OH, Amy Sanders of Rock Falls, Gary Lee Sanders of Dixon, Quintin Sanders of Rochelle, Brooke Lindsey and Cassandra Lindsey of Rochelle, Bella Carney of DeKalb, and Aiden Sanders of DeKalb; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Diana Kostereva of Peshtigo, WI and Alice Borkowski of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his son, Terry Sanders; 2 brothers, Arthur Sanders and Vernon Range Jr; 2 sisters, Beatrice Zuercher and Genevieve Rost; a grandson, Bradley Sanders; and a nephew, Joshua Range.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street in Rochelle with Pastor Duane Boehm officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
