Helen J. Windland, age 85, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 unexpectedly at her home. She was born on December 26, 1930 in Rockford, IL to Maynard and Evelyn (Baxter) Troxell. Helen graduated from Monroe Center High School. She married Delbert Ray Windland on December 9, 1948 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her on May 14, 1973. Helen raised her family and also worked at many local businesses including Adams Department Store, Small Fry and Aunt Mary's Yarn. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, son, Danny Windland, daughter-in-law, Sharon Windland, and great-granddaughter, Emily Fleming.
Survived by her 4 children: Debra (Tim) Sexton of Bloomington, IL, Delbert Jr. (Linda) Windland of Rochelle, Dana (Donna) Windland of Rochelle and Dawn (Roman) Windland Robles of Edgerton, WI, 12 grandchildren: Anita (Mike) Friedland, Jason (Megan) Windland, Sarah (Brian) Bauer, Tyler (Lindsay) Sexton, Emily (Jordan) Baynard, Clare (Armando) Báez, Earl (Kayla) Fleming, Jamie Fleming, Mike Miller, Michel (Bryce) Oltman, Melanie Windland, and Cole Marsh; 24 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Windland of Rochelle, and sister, Marie Schabacker of Lindenwood.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM on Thursday at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. Memorials to the Order of the Eastern Star or the Rochelle Masonic Lodge 244.
