Hortensia I. Salazar, 83, loving mother and grandmother, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Franklin Grove, IL. Hortensia was born October 7, 1934 to Eulogio and Natividad (Flores) Inocencio in Minneapolis, MN. She married Pascual Balderas Salazar on December 1, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2011. Over the years, Hortensia worked for Caron International and for Macklin Brothers. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sons: Edwardo and Pascual Jr.; two sisters: Elvira Inocencio, and Emma Scott, and brother, Gilbert Inocencio
Hortensia is survived by three children: Rolando "Sal" (Laura) Salazar, Bonnie Salazar and Maggie (Dennis) Barringer all of Rochelle; six brothers: Adolfo (Mary) Inocencio of Coal City, IL, Rolando (Martha) Inocencio of San Antonio, TX, Robert (Norma) Inocencio of Lytle, TX, Cruz Inocencio of Aurora, IL, Julio Inocencio of Lytle, TX, and Eulogio Jr. of Lytle, TX; three sisters: Amy Gomez of Lytle, TX, Olga Ramirez of Lytle, TX, Jovita Inocencio of TN; brother-in-law, Bernard Scott of Rochelle; sister-in-law, Mary Inocencio of Lytle, TX; four grandchildren: Kimberly (Vinnie) Cicala, Tiffany Salazar, Keyana Salazar and Skyler (Jade) Barringer and one great grandson, Keilon Salazar.
The visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelley Drive, Rochelle with Father Ruben Herrera officiating.
