Irene Harris, 91, of Creston, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 19, 1931, in Morristown, Tennessee, the daughter of B.M. and Beulah (Self) Golden. She married Guarld Harris on May 21, 1955, in Rochelle.

Irene loved to play bingo at the VFW. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene is survived by two children, Debbie (Don) Grell of Vanndale, Arkansas and Larry (Kayla) Harris of Creston; three grandchildren, Tonya (Lonie) Sarver, TJ Harris, and Zack Starkweather; five great-grandchildren, Skyler (Chelsea Erickson) Sarver, Makayla Sarver, Caiden Harris, Aiden Harris, and Alyza Harris; special friend, Sandra Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Guarld Harris; four brothers, Jeff, Elmer, Max, and Lester Golden; and four sisters, Lorene Lawless, Linda Daugherty, Agnes Moore, and Judy Pratt.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rochelle Community Hospital and Unity Hospice for the loving care they provided to Irene.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street in Rochelle with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
