James "Jim" A. Mulholland, 78, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at OSF St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, IL with his family by his side. Jim was born on December 16, 1940 in Chicago, IL to John and Eileen (Glendenning) Mulholland. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Trueblood and Sally Mulholland.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara of Rockford, IL; three children: Jeanine (Jeffrey) Cardot of Huntington Beach, CA, Jay (Jeanette) Mulholland of Rochelle and Jarvis (Colleen) Mulholland of Cedar Falls, IA; brother, John (Carol) Mulholland, Jr. of Poplar Grove, IL; two sisters: Geraldine Anderson of Mendota, IL and Elizabeth Gay of Belvidere, IL; six grandchildren: Joseph and Jacqueline Cardot, Jina and Jorja Mulholland, Maeve Kathryn and Marilyn James Mulholland; many loving nieces and nephews and several special friends.

Jim was an avid storyteller, who carried a good sense of humor. He was a family loving man, who was always there for his family members. Jim was very proud of his heritage and often proclaimed, "I'm a 100% Irishman!" He was very happy to finally visit Ireland after he retired.

Jim worked for Swift Packing for over 20 years. He later found his dream job as head custodian at Batavia High School, where he loved working with the kids and staff. Jim spent a lot of time volunteering with various organizations, such as LeRoy Grange, Boone County Fair, Illinois Extension Center and Midway Village. No matter where he lived, Jim always found time to go "pickin'" asparagus in Rochelle. His most favorite thing of all was donating to the Illinois lottery. The memorial visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The memorial funeral sevice will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 16 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
