James Herbert Birchall, 88, of Rochelle, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, at his home. He was born September 24, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Herbert and Evelyn (Gross) Birchall. He married Juanita Brooks on August 27, 1955. She preceded him in death in 2002. Jim married Joan Love in February 2006, in Las Vegas, NV. Jim served in the United States Navy. He worked many years for the telephone company.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joan Love-Birchall, of Rochelle; children, Sandra (Terry) Ardoin of Salisbury, NC and Jeffrey (Peggie) Birchall of Ft. Myers, FL; daughter-in-law, Tisa Birchall Huddleston; grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Frick, Joni (Rich) Luciano, Catherine Ardoin, Julia Birchall, Noah Birchall, Levi Birchall, and Alana (Bailey) Buckner; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Davis of Ft. Wayne, IN; step-children, Scott (Sharon) Love and Vicky (Ken) Osborne; five step-grandchildren, and nine step great-grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Birchall; mother, Evelyn Birchall Davis; a son Philip Birchall; sister-in-law, Cindy Davis; and step-son, Brian Love.

Cremation care has been provided. Memorial visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle. Burial of cremated remains will be held at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto, FL at a later date. Contributions in Jim's memory may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
