James Edward Bratko, 73, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Oregon, IL. Jim was born on October 11, 1942 to Edward J. and Florence (Brzyzinski) Bratko in Chicago, IL. He married Dorothy Jean Hass on June 25, 1966 in Chicago. He was a real estate sales agent for many years. Jim was a White Sox and Bears fan, Star Trek enthusiast, loved ice cream, and enjoyed coffee breaks and playing chess. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Kenneth Bratko.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy of Steward; three children: Jay (Heidi) Bratko of Rochelle, Jeff (Tanya) Bratko of East Dundee, IL and Johanna Bratko of Steward; sister, Alice Bratko of Harwood Heights, IL and four grandchildren: Matthew, Megan, Mark and Isabella.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Rob Hamilton officiating. The visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:50 P.M., Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Cremation rites will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
