Rochelle

James "Jim" E. Newman, Sr., 83, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home in Rochelle. Jim was born December 14, 1932 to John S. and Ethel (Olson) Newman in Verona, Illinois. He proudly served with the United States Army. He then married Lois I. Clemons on August 18, 1956 in Seneca, IL. Jim worked for Del Monte Farms for 13 years as a harvest operation foreman. Following that, he owned and operated Rochelle Electronics in Rochelle for 11 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Brenda L. Newman; brother, Francis Hugh and grandson, Corey Allen Newman.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lois, three sons: Gerald Newman of Rochelle, James Jr. (Marie) Newman of El Paso, Texas and John (Trasdy) Newman of Temple, Texas; two daughters: Lori (Ron) Smith of Dixon, IL and Tracie (Andy Peccarelli) Hull of Rochelle; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 20 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelley Dr., Rochelle with Father Johnson Lopez officiating.
