James (Jim) Marvin McGee, age 60, passed away unexpectedly at St. Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford. Jim was born December 9, 1956 in Salina, KS to Marvin Charles McGee and Patricia A. McGee. He was married to the love of his life, Sheryl McGee (Huber) on May 2, 1980 and spent 37 years in more often than not wedded bliss. They have two sons Christopher (Chris) J. and Scott M. (Kristi) McGee, and two granddaughters, Emmaline and Amelia McGee.
He worked endlessly at home and work, always telling it like it was whether you wanted to hear it or not. He was a deeply devoted husband, dad, and ogre papa (grandpa). He loved life and enjoyed spending time in his workshop and garage, riding mountain bikes, hiking, fishing, and playing with his granddaughters. He taught his sons valuable life ethics and how to love.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Marvin (Mac) McGee, his brother -in- law, Michael Haub, and several other close family members.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., in Rochelle.
