James Paul "JP" Duncan, 87, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 with his family by his side at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. Jim was born on June 22, 1934, to Herbert and Lena Faye (Gullic) Duncan in Fort Benning, GA. He was a 2nd Machinist Mate serving with the United States Navy from 1955 to 1960. On March 22, 1960, he married Doris Jean Satterfield in Sycamore, IL. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2011.

While working at Del Monte for 36 years, he also worked a couple of part time jobs, Krogers, and Eagles. After retiring, he worked at May School and the Rochelle Community Hospital. He was a very hard worker. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends but the grandchildren and great grandchildren captured a special place in his heart. His favorite pastimes were fishing, watching John Wayne movies and listening to gospel music especially the Gaithers.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by five brothers: Frank, Fred, Russell, Herbert Jr. and John and three sisters: Virginia Harlow, Elizabeth Joanne Duncan and Marjorie Duncan.

Jim is survived by his six children: Paula McGill, Cheryl (Doug) Kuemmel, David Duncan, Tammy Schaper, Deana (Rick) Rhoads, and Elizabeth (Greg) Petersen; 15 grandchildren: Michael (Sara) McGill, Jeff Kuemmel, Stacey (Josh) Andrews, Chris (Jessica) Hansen, David Adam Duncan, Jim Paul Duncan, Alesha (Chad) Burtchaell, Saralyn Duncan, Melissa (Andrew) Jordan, Kyle (Stacy) Schaper, Jon (Cheyenne Horne) Rhoads, Nick (Krystal) Rhoads, Lena (Bishop Flinchum) Petersen, Ian Petersen and Riley Petersen; 19 great grandchildren with #20 arriving in November; sisters-in-law: Lela Duncan and Debbie Finney; many nieces and nephews as well as Donnie and Mark Caswell who held a special place in his heart.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Duane Boehm officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
