James D. Reed, 73, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Franklin Grove Living
and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Grove, Illinois.  James was born on September 1, 1951 to Dallas D. and Margaret E. (Kruse) Reed in Rochelle, IL.  After high school, he attended Eastern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

James worked for many years at Moore's Hardware in Rochelle.  He enjoyed farming on the side and spending time with his family and friends.  He loved watching NASCAR and sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts.

James is survived by three brothers: Claude (Virginia) Reed of Memphis, TN, Kent (Martha) Reed of Steward, IL and Kevin Reed of Sycamore, IL; his sister, Rosalie Gartner of Sycamore, IL; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Rosemary and Nancy.

The memorial visitation will be from 5:00 - 6:45 P.M., Friday, September, 20, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street, Rochelle. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 P.M.
