James C. Spring, 87, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. James was born on August 2, 1934 in Ava, Missouri to Fred and Nellie (Nicholson) Spring. On August 2, 1955, he married Francine Brown at the Foursquare Church in Rochelle, IL.

James was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked for Sundstrand in Rockford, IL for 42 years. He was a lifetime member of the Rochelle Foursquare Church. In his spare time, James enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to discuss politics with his grandsons, watch NASCAR and Wheel of Fortune.

James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Francine; two daughters: Veda (the late Tony) Simms of Milan, IN and Vickie (Barry) Taylor of DeKalb, IL; eight grandchildren: Barry "BLT" Taylor, II of DeKalb, IL, Susie (Jeff) Thompson, Abigail (Colton Moore) Harris both of Scottsville, KY, James (Cindy) Harris, Meredith Harris, Joseph (Angie) Simms, Chad (Ashley) Simms all of Rochelle, IL and Joshua Simms of Milan, IN; two sisters: Velma Spring of Ava, MO and Mildred Provost of Springfield, MO; son-in-law, Noel Harris of Arkansas; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Velda Harris; son-in-law, Tony Simms; three brothers: Fred, Alvin and Ernest and sister, Annie.

The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 15 at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Boehm officiating. Private family burial at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.
