Jane Sasala, 92. passed away Thursday, March 26 at the Oregon Living & Rehabilitation nursing home with the care of Unity Hospice. Jane was born September 22, 1933, in West Brooklyn, Il, daughter of Harold and Marie (Sturtz) Jenner. She attended schools in Amboy, IL. At age 18, she took a bus to Chicago and shortly after became a stewardess for Eastern Airlines and later became a manager in the shipping department until retirement. The airlines helped her travel the world and visit many exotic places and meet many famous people including her boss Eddie Rickenbacker. In 1972 she married the love of her life Martin "Marty" Sasala. He proceeded her in death in 1997. After retirement they spent many happy hours fishing the Mississippi river while living in Thomson, IL.
In 2013 she moved to Rochelle, IL, closer to family. Her greatest joy came from donating to the Rochelle United Methodist Church Sunday School and the young students at Central Elementary School and giving small presents to everyone. She also was a 30 year member of the Lions Club, treating all her lady friends to flowers on the Lions Club Rose Day. Her generosity went out to everyone.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband Marty, sister Delores and brother Francis. She is survived by her brothers: Marvin (Dianne) Jenner of Rochelle, IL and Steven (Joyce) Jenner of Amboy, IL; step-son Tom(Chris) Sasala, Oak Lawn, IL, and step-grandson Michael (Mellisa) Sasala of Dallas,TX, plus many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are pending.
In leu of flowers, donations to Rochelle United Methodist Church, Unity Hospice or a local Lions Club is appreciated.
