Rochelle

Janet K. Freeman, 69, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Jan was born October 17, 1950 in Rochelle, the daughter of Charles and Joy (Fisher) Behrends. She married Ron Freeman on December 26, 1969 in Rochelle.

Jan worked at A.O. Smith Harvestore in Dekalb for thirty-five years. She was an avid reader who was especially fond of mysteries, crime and science fiction books. She loved to travel with her husband to any place that had a beach. For the past twenty years, her favorite vacation spot was Cane Garden Bay in the British Virgin Islands. She treasured her twice yearly visits to see her grandchildren in Arkansas. She was especially proud of the fact that there were currently five living generations of the Behrends and Freeman families.

Jan is survived by her husband of fifty years, Ron; son, Jason (Monica Woolbright) Freeman; three granddaughters, Dakotah, Delaney, and Mackenzie; a great-grandson, Maverick; her mother, Joy Phillips; three siblings, Brenda (Raymond) Rainwater, Alan (Sue Mohler) Behrends, and Gail (Jeff) Myers; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jan is preceded in death by her father, Charles Behrends.

Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle with Pastor Dave Rogula officiating.
