Janet Rebecca Rigg, who had a passion for traveling, departed for Heaven on February 5, 2015. She was born March 3, 1947 in Fairbury, Il to Charles & Ferne Harrell. She moved to Rochelle in 1965 after marrying the love of her life, Ray. We rejoice knowing they were able to celebrate his February 6th birthday together! Janet is loving Mom of Becky (Mark) Ackland and Jill (Mike) Secor. She is the adoring Grandma of Megan, Carley, Callie & Katelyn Ackland and Hannah & Zachary Secor. Janet was classy & elegant, yet down to earth. She was a strong woman who knew what she liked, what she wanted & knew God would supply her with the strength to survive what she needed. She is described as beautiful, regal, nice to all, caring, one with a great sense of humor, an amazing cookie maker and fun to spend time with. She recently had her braces off and loved flashing smiles to show us her beautiful teeth ~ thank you Dr. Curtis and staff! Janet was diagnosed with AML in September and after a 20 day stay at OSF desired to return home so Megan, Carley, Callie, Katelyn, Mark & Becky devoted themselves to caring for her & were blessed to be with her when she took her final breath. She was surrounded by so much love and admiration at OSF..special thanks to Dr. Korkmaz, OSF HOSPICE & the awesome Andrew K! Thank you to the Rochelle United Methodist Church members of which she was honored to be secretary for so many years. Serving Christ and reaching out to the community in order to witness God's love was her joy. Thank you to Pastor Brett and Dave Meisener for making her last work days so great! Thank you to Pastor Cindy for being available when needed the most and being a great comfort! Thank you to the GRACE Homeschool and Ogle Co. Clover 4H families for prayers, love & meals and to Eric & Carrie Higby, Grant & Tara Manning, the Smardo / Duncan families, Linda Cater and Marv Jensen for all your extra help.
