NORMA JEAN SMITH, age 81, of Rochelle, formerly of Creston and Homosassa, FL passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Rochelle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by family and friends. Jean was born on August 12, 1932 in Rochelle, the daughter of Jewell and Marion Eckhardt Holloway. She married Johnson Smith on February 27, 1970 in Rochelle. Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband Johnson Smith on October 8, 2000 and by her step son, Johnnie Smith; 2 brothers: Loyd Holloway and Ronald H. Holloway, and a brother-in-law, Orville Good Sr.

Jean retired from Eaton. She enjoyed working puzzles, garage sales and helping others.

She is survived by her 2 step daughters: Vonda Lopez of Cortland, and Carolyn (Ray) Smith of Rochelle; 2 brothers: George Holloway of Rochelle, and Richard Holloway of Hiawatha, KS; 3 sisters: Virginia Good of Rochelle, Dixie (Ronald) Crisp of Rochelle, and Judy (Ted) Everest of Homosassa Springs, FL; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Holloway of Ashton, IL.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6 ^th St., Rochelle with Rev. Joy Alsop officiating. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral. A memorial has been established. Burial at the Trinity Memory Gardens, Rochelle.
