Jeremiah Sanders, 42, of DeKalb, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Kishwaukee Hospital after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 17, 1981, in Rochelle, the son of Harold and Kathleen (Rogers) Sanders. He married Debra Carney on October 26, 2011, at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
Jeremiah attended Rochelle Township High School. He worked most of his career in the security industry, most notably for U.S. Security Associates. He met his wife, Debra, in Las Vegas. After they were married, they moved to Arizona before finally settling back in Illinois. Jeremiah loved all things related to firearms. He enjoyed fishing but his main passion was photography. He could often be found watching his favorite television show, The Big Bang Theory.
Jeremiah is survived by his wife, Debra Sanders; two children, Aiden Sanders and Bella Carney; step-son, Joey (Jamie) Bender; grandson, Joey Bender Jr.; his mother, Kathy Sanders; siblings Gary Sanders and Karen Sanders; nieces and nephews, April (Zach) Wade, Nicole Sanders, Amy Sanders, Gary Lee Sanders, Quintin Sanders, Brooke Lindsey, and Cassandra Lindsey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Viki Carney; sisters-in-law, Robin Carney and Tami Carney; and his best friend of over thirty years, Mike Hardin.
Jeremiah is preceded in death by his father, Harold; brother, Terry Sanders; and granddaughter, Astrid.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Harvest Baptist Church, 241 Scott Avenue, in Rochelle with Pastor Duane Boehm officiating.
