Jeremy Hale, 44, of Byron, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, Illinois. Jeremy was born May 13, 1977 in Rochelle, the son of Carl and Carol (Slack) Hale. He married Kelli Lindquist on July 1, 2017 on Captiva Island, Florida.

Jeremy grew up in the Rochelle area. He was skilled in carpentry which led him to a position at NIU where he had been for the last 13 years. He had a passion for building and fixing anything. Another passion has been cycling. He's known for riding to/from home to work on his bike, the farther the better. In the last few years, he started participating in long distance cycling races. He dedicated hours to training and worked so hard for each race. He lived each day to the fullest, never taking anything for granted. His best times, though, were always time spent with his wife and kids, especially activities outside: hiking, biking, sledding, skiing, fishing or inside watching movies together. Being all together made his heart whole. Because of his kindness and energy, he had so many long lasting and tight friendships that he genuinely treasured. He will forever be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jeremy is survived by his wife, Kelli; he was the amazing father and step-father to Ainsley and Linley Hale and Taylor, Madison, and Xander Lindquist; parents, Carl and Carol Hale; siblings Brad Hale, Lisa Mcghee, and Tina Garner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dave and Karen Brown; brother-in-law, Justin (Amber) Brown; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12 noon Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street in Rochelle. A graveside funeral service will follow the visitation at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
