Dr. Jerry S. Wilson, DDS, age 84 of Rochelle, passed away on Monday August 28, 2006 at his home. He was born on Oct. 26, 1921 in Waukegan, IL the son of Scott and Leta (Bienfang) Wilson. Jerry married Marilyn B. Lynch on Sept. 15, 1945, in Oak Park, IL.
Jerry graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1939. He then was a 1943 graduate of Cornell College and received his DDS degree from the University of Illinois in 1946. He served as a dentist in the US Navy from 1946-1948 and then opened an office in Rochelle from Sept. 1948 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle; was past president of the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce during the centennial of 1953; was a Cub Scout Master; served several years in Little League ending as President; was President of the American Cancer Society, Trustee of Flagg Township, President of Rochelle High School Foundation; served on the Ogle County Unit Zoning Board of Appeals, and was President of Golden K.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Rochelle; 4 sons: Michael (Carol) Wilson of Terrace, British Columbia, Thomas (Mary) Wilson of Sioux City, IA, Scott (Cheryl) Wilson of Rochelle,
and Jack (Mary K) Wilson of Beaverton, OR; 3 daughters: Susan Ann Wilson of Rochelle, Patricia (Lee) Stocking of Mendota, IL and Jann (Dan Robinson)Wilson of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006
at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dr. John Hamilton and Rev. Dr. James Tilley. Visitation will be at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. Rochelle on Wed. Aug. 30th from 4 to 8 PM.
Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials can be made to RTHS Foundation, Ogle County Hospice or to the First Presbyterian Church.
