Jimmy Lee Tapp, 81, of Lindenwood, IL passed away July 5, 2015 in Rockford, IL. Jimmy was born October 17, 1933 inTupelo, Mississippi to Cleo and Eunice. He married Leona Capes on November 17, 1956 in Rockford. Jimmy moved to Rockford in 1950, served in the US Army, retired from National Lock of Rockford in 1982, but continued to work until he was 80. He was known for his great love of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Predeceased by grandparents, Oliver & Sarah; parents, Cleo and Eunice; son, Jimmy Lee Tapp Jr. and grandson, Brennan Lee.
Survived by Leona (Capes) Tapp, wife of 58 years; five children: Donna (Bill) Beaird of Lindenwood, Delton of Rochelle, Norman (Debbie) Rockford, Barry (Kathy) of Tennessee & Kevin (Julie) of St. Louis, MO; 14 grandchildren: Garrett, Chelsea, Logan, Elizabeth, Lauren, Dustin, Kirsten, Nicholas, Alex, Brooke, Joshua, Whitney, Troy and Brett; five great-grandchildren: Devon, Kaleb, Zoie, Jaxson and Stella; sister, Anna Coulston and two brothers: Vince and David Tapp.
The funeral service will be at 9:00 A.M., Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Paul Kingsbury and Pastor Ron Haese of Rockford North Love Church officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, July 9 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial has been established. He will be greatly missed.
