John L. Erdman, age 56, of Rochelle, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2007 with his family lovingly at his side at Hines Veteran Hospital in Hines, IL. He was born on July 18, 1950 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Neil and Marjorie (Wilder) Eerdmans. John married Mary Holmen in 1971.
1. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in Viet Nam and Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart due to his courageous acts of service.
Survivors include his lifetime companion, Mary Erdman of Rochelle, 2 sons; Jon (Jaclyn) Erdman of St Paul, MN and Shane (Joy) Erdman of Cerro Gordo, IL; a daughter; Jessica (Donnie Akers) Erdman of Dekalb, IL; 2 brothers: Jim (Debra) Erdman of Lancaster, CA and Todd (Betty) Erdman of Nashville, TN; a sister: Chris (Steve) Parker of Grand Rapids, MI; and 8 grandchildren: Alexandra and Sara, Reece, Rhylie and McKenna, and Taylor, Tristan and Madylin.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Unger-Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James Tilley officiating. In Lieu of flowers: mermorials can be made to the family.
