John L. Ewald, 95, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Rochelle. He was born June 15, 1918 in Lee County to John and Rose (Hampton) Ewald. John married Hazel Imel on February 16, 1941 in Earlville, IL. He worked at Northern Illinois University as a building foreman.
John was preceded by his wife, Hazel, on December 20, 1981, two brothers: Glenn and Arthur and his sister Evelyn Vogeler.
He is survived by four sons: Alan and John of Rochelle, Wayne (Stacy) of Malta, IL and David (Patricia) of Stillman Valley, IL, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, IL. The visitation will be 10:00 - 10:45 A..M. the same day as the funeral. Burial is at the Flagg Center Cemetery. Memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
